Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE)
At Lawn Primary and Nursery School, we follow the Jigsaw Scheme of learning for our Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) learning. Year groups from Reception to Year 6 have weekly PSHE lessons based on the themes in the Jigsaw Scheme.
Jigsaw brings together Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education with emotional literacy, social skills and spiritual development in a comprehensive scheme of learning.
There are six 'Puzzles' in Jigsaw that are designed to progress in sequence from the start of each academic year:
Term 1: Being Me in My World
Term 2: Celebrating Difference (including anti-bullying)
Term 3: Dreams and Goals
Term 4: Healthy Me
Term 5: Relationships
Term 6: Changing Me (including Relationships and Sex Education)
The whole school works on the same Puzzle at the same time, meaning that each Puzzle can be launched with a whole-school assembly and learning can be celebrated by the whole school in a meaningful way.
Through PSHE at Lawn Primary and Nursery School, we hope that children will develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes which will enable them to lead healthy, fulfilling and meaningful lives. PSHE is taught in a cross curricular way and through discrete lessons. The lessons can include group work, circle time, debates, discussion, role play and the use of visitors. Through PSHE lessons, pupils acquire the skills which enable them to maximise their own abilities and qualities, understand our diverse society, rights and responsibilities.

Along side teaching in class our Nurture Team provide support for both pupils and parents.
