Fundraising and Spending
Friends of Lawn are proud to have made a very generous donation of almost £13,000 in 2022/23, the school have purchased new IT equipment, which will enable the children to have the best experience of the computing curriculum in 2023/24.
The desktops were 14 years old and showing their age somewhat! It could take quite a long time for the children to get to the ICT suite, turn them on and then long in! Now they can use the laptops in the classroom, meaning much more time for IT lessons.
The list of equipment FOL have funded includes,
- 30 laptops
- Class pack of Bee-bots
- Crumble kits
- Geared Motors and Wheels for Crumble kits
- Micro bits
- Set of 15 Headphones
Everything will be in place and ready to use in September 2023 alongside our new Computing Curriculum from Teach Computing.
A new fundraising venture for Friends of Lawn is to build a fund for the purchase of sets of books for whole class reading. Research and evidence tell us that children’s reading fluency and their commitment to reading for pleasure are both enhanced when they are able to have their own copies of texts for class teaching, and can become immersed in their reading. In Key Stage 2, we need to build a bank of these sets of texts and want to choose high quality books which allow a diverse range of author and content exposure. The reading team are passionate about continuing to find ways for reading to complete with technology and to ensure all our children become readers. With the help of Friends of Lawn fundraising, we hope to be able to build up this bank of books as soon as possible.
In addition we would like to invite parents/carers to use the Friends of Lawn links on amazonsmile and easyfundraising (this will not cost you anything but will give us a small donation every time you shop through these companies):
