Fundraising and Spending
So far this year, we have already contributed towards the White Rose maths scheme books, which I know many of you will have seen at the recent parents evening. Helping to fund these for the school has dramatically reduced the time spent on printing, cutting, and sticking into traditional exercise books, which means the children are getting more time learning. It also means that children have bright, well defined, colourful pictorial models for mathematical concepts, to help their learning.
Our goals for the remainder of 2023/24 are to fundraise for the purchase of sets of books for whole class reading. Research and evidence tell us that children’s reading fluency and their commitment to reading for pleasure are both enhanced when they can have their own copies of texts for class teaching and can become immersed in their reading.
In Key Stage 2, we need to build a bank of these sets of texts and want to choose high quality books which allow a diverse range of author and content exposure.
In KS1, we want to be able to purchase smaller sets of picture and story books, so that each class can access these, which will ensure exposure to a good quality of books for everyone. Our vision is for a reading spine in our school, where all children who move through Lawn will leave us having ad exposure to a specified number of high-quality texts which develop their language, ideas, reading comprehension and empathy.
The EYFS team are also looking to purchase some new trikes and scooters for Nursery and Reception children, which are great in helping develop motor skills and sense of balance.
And finally, the school would really like some new sensory equipment to help support some of the children with special educational needs.
We would like to invite parents/carers to use either the link or QR code below, to sign up easyfundraising. Its quick and easy and will not cost you anything but will give us a small donation every time you shop.
Our top supporter has raised almost £50 in the past year. If just 50 staff/parents signed up and raised half of this, we would receive over £1,000 of funds to spend at the school. The top school raised £7,000 in one year!!!
There is a browser extension you can download that reminds you if you are using a site that donates and you click one button to make that donations - it couldn't be easier!
