At Lawn Primary School, we offer all children an excellent start to their school journey so that they can become life-long learners. In the nursery rooms, we provide a topic-based curriculum in which the children can develop their creativity, build resilience and embrace their imagination.

Bluebells (for children aged 3 and 4) is an exciting place to be and it is full of happy, enthusiastic children who are keen to learn. With its welcoming and friendly atmosphere, our staff are committed to enabling every child to reach their full potential. At Bluebells Nursery, encouraging independence and nurturing confidence is at the heart of everything that we do. It is important that all of the children in our care have the opportunity to develop the skills that they need to grow into well-rounded individuals. To achieve this, we offer a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities that allow children to develop skills across the seven areas of the Early Years curriculum. Our team of staff have many years of experience and are dedicated to supporting every child on their journey to be school-ready!

Saplings (for children aged 2) is led by a fantastic team of practitioners who will take your little ones under their wing! Our curriculum for two-year-olds focuses largely on the three prime areas of learning; Communication and Language/Personal, Social and Emotional Development/Physical Development. In Saplings, we give the children plenty of opportunities to develop their gross motor and fine motor skills to enable them to move more confidently and with greater control. The adults in Saplings are skillful at getting the children to communicate through play - encouraging the use of simple words and phrases, as well as developing their listening skills. The children are encouraged to follow simple rules and routines ready for their next step into Bluebells Nursery.

The seven areas of the Early Years curriculum:

Prime - Communication and Language/Personal, Social and Emotional Development/Physical Development
Specific - Understanding the World/Expressive Arts and Design/Maths/Literacy

Sessions:

Morning session - 8:40-11:40
Lunchtime session - 11:40-12:10
Afternoon session - 12:10-3:10
Full day session - 8:40-3:10

Food:

If you wish to send your child in for full day sessions, you can provide a packed lunch or book a hot dinner. Bluebells children that are present during the morning session, will be offered a healthy snack. Saplings children are asked to bring their own snack, but we do encourage healthy snack choices where possible. We offer free milk to all children whose parents have signed up.

Communication

  • All parents are offered a Parent's Meeting twice a year with the class teacher or room leader. This allows both parents and staff to celebrate successes and work together to support their child with achieving their next steps.
  • Termly newsletters will be shared with parents so that they are aware of key dates and what the children will be learning about throughout the term.
  • Class Dojo is used to share observations of children within the setting and share updates of what the children have been up to at nursery! It also allows parents to directly message the class teacher or room leader if they need to.
  • We have an open-door policy and encourage parents to come and chat to us if they have any questions or concerns.

Please note...

Your child will settle quickly if their routine is predictable, so we strongly advise parents to either book their child in to morning sessions OR afternoon sessions. You can also choose to book your child into full day sessions.
