At Lawn Primary & Nursery School, our vision is simple: children to be proud of. We are an inclusive, nurturing and ambitious school where every child is valued, respected and inspired to reach their full potential, regardless of starting point- excellence for all. Through high expectations, a rich and engaging curriculum and a deep commitment to nurturing strong relationships, we equip pupils with firm foundations in learning, a love of reading, and the confidence, resilience and respect needed to thrive. We celebrate individuality, champion curiosity and foster a culture of kindness, responsibility and pride in all that we do. Working in partnership with families and our community, we ensure every child feels safe, supported and empowered — leaving Lawn as confident, compassionate and motivated learners, ready for the next stage of their journey and proud of who they are and what they can achieve.

Lawn Primary & Nursery School – Curriculum Vision

At Lawn Primary & Nursery School, our curriculum is ambitious, inclusive and designed to inspire curiosity, independence and a love of learning in every child. Rooted in our vision “Children to be proud of” and underpinned by our values — Excellence, Confidence, Resilience and Respect — we provide a rich, coherent and progressive curriculum that builds knowledge, skills and character over time.

We believe every child can flourish, regardless of starting point. Our curriculum prioritises strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics, alongside broad enrichment, high-quality experiential learning and purposeful links to our community and wider world. High expectations, adaptive and inclusive teaching, and carefully sequenced learning ensure all pupils — including those with SEND and disadvantaged pupils — access and succeed within a shared, challenging curriculum.

We champion the joy of reading and language, recognising them as gateways to future learning and life opportunity. Lessons are designed to nurture positive learning behaviours, promote curiosity and creativity, and provide meaningful opportunities for mastery, depth and challenge. Through high-quality modelling, questioning, feedback and assessment, every child is supported and stretched to meet their full potential.

Our curriculum is strengthened through partnerships with families, meaningful educational visits, extra-curricular experiences and opportunities for leadership and personal development. At Lawn, we are preparing confident, respectful, resilient and aspirational lifelong learners — children who are proud of who they are, what they can achieve personally and the contribution they will make to their community and beyond.

Excellence

Share our high expectations for your child’s learning & behaviour.

Know your child’s targets and talk about them at home.
Encourage your child to join in after-school and holiday activities.
Show your child that you value education and learning so that they will too.
Set your child a good example of considerate and courteous behaviour in your dealings with school.

Resilience

Support your child to build resilience and develop the skills necessary to navigate school challenges successfully.

Confidence

Understand your role and responsibilities in your child’s education.

Attend all parents’ evenings.
Back the school policies - they are there for the good of the pupils.
Maintain good communication with school & discuss any concerns promptly with us.
Respond to school requests & questionnaires on time.
Make sure school has your full and up-to-date contact details.
Help us make school a safe & peaceful environment for all children through your considerate & respectful behaviour

Respect

All our children are stars! Show pride in their success and in the school’s achievements.

Praise the skills, talents & successful learning of all pupils.
Notice when children behave well & praise them for it.

Expectations:

We seek to empower pupils, involving them in decision making and valuing their pupil voice.
To inspire and challenge pupils through a rich, balanced and inclusive curriculum enhanced by a range of extra-curricular activities and events. Our goal is to ignite children’s curiosity and their motivation to learn.
