Equality and Diversity

At Lawn Primary and Nursery School we are striving to prepare the learners of today for a global future, and we work hard to provide a happy and secure environment and to respond to the changing needs of our children and staff. We also consider the whole person to be important and aim to meet the social, emotional, physical, intellectual and moral needs of each individual.

Lawn Primary and Nursery School will take steps to advance equality of opportunity, foster good relations and eliminate discrimination or harassment across all the Protected Characteristics (i.e. age, race, gender reassignment, disability, marriage and civil partnership, religion and belief, pregnancy and maternity, gender, sexual orientation) within the school community.

The school community includes the pupils we serve, their families and the school's staff. At Lawn Primary and Nursery School we believe that diversity is a strength which should be respected and celebrated by all those who learn, teach and visit here.

For further information please see our Equality Policy.

Equality Objectives
  1. To monitor and analyse pupil achievement by race, gender and disability and act on any trends or patterns in the data that require additional support for pupils.
  2. Analyse attendance and behaviour data re. representation of specific groups (protected categories)
  3. Review our transition information to ensure we are not disadvantaging those families who have protected characteristics and as a result pupils get a less good start to school life
  4. To review levels of parental and pupil engagement in learning and school life, across all activities to ensure equity and fairness in access and engagement.
  5. For pupils to fully understand discrimination and bullying at school, and how their behaviour and interaction with others (peers and wider groups / individuals) can be perceived
