The Role of the Local Governing Body

The role of the Local Governing Body (LGB) at Lawn Primary and Nursery School within the Blue Kite Academy Trust is a valuable one in providing local governance.

The powers and responsibilities of an LGB are delegated to them by the Trust Board and include reviewing and monitoring:

  • Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Inclusion
  • Safeguarding, Behaviour and Attendance
  • Quality of Education
  • School Business and Operations
  • Culture and Community

The LGB is expected to provide appropriate support and challenge to the headteacher and to play a part in representing the views of the school’s stakeholders,  including parents, staff and pupils as well as the local community.

The LGB of Lawn Primary and Nursery school is made up of volunteers which includes parents, staff and members of local community and the headteacher is also a governor.  The work of the LGB is supported by a Governance Professional and it meets 6 times a year.
