Governor Update - Summer Term 2015
This term a working party of governors has been busy helping all governors prepare for an inspection by Ofsted, which is expected in the near future. They have been working to ensure that all of our statutory duties have been met and governors know what to expect when being questioned by the inspectors so we can support the school to achieve the outcome it deserves.
Towards the end of the summer term governors will be working alongside the senior leadership team at Lawn to compile the school development plan, which sets targets for the next academic year. We will set aside time in the new school year to think about longer term aims for the governing body by creating our own 3-5 year plan.
Following discussions between the School, Friends of Lawn PTA and Governing body, an idea of regenerating the pond area within the school, with a new larger pond and wildlife area to provide further educational benefit in the curriculum areas of Science and Outdoor learning for the children was decided as the project for the grant. TE Connectivity has generously donated a £3000 grant to the Friends of Lawn PTA that will be used to provide the funding for this exciting new area of the school.
We currently have vacancies for two parent governors and will be recruiting in September. If you are interested then please look out for details at the start of the next academic year.
We would like to welcome back Mrs James from maternity leave this term and thank Mr Sheppard for his hard work in keeping the school running whilst Mrs James was away. We plan to keep in touch with Mr Sheppard whilst he is in his new role as head teacher at Orchid Vale School and form links with their governing body.
It is with great sadness that we learnt that one of our parent governors, Tracey Kidman-Pepper, has passed away. Tracey was a member of the governing body for 18 months and will be sadly missed by all of the governors.
We wish everyone a very happy summer holiday and look forward to seeing all of the children back at school in September.
