In 1976 a group of mothers started Cleeve Lawns Playgroup to provide a much needed pre-school group for children in the Lawns area, initially using two classrooms in the Pratten block at Lawns Infant School. In 1981 the Playgroup was able to secure the lease on the entire three-classroom block. This gave the Playgroup a secure home, excellent facilities and financial independence. In 1997 we were accepted by the DfES for the Nursery Vouchers Scheme. In 2001 we changed our name to Lawn Pre-School. In 2006 we moved from the huts in to our current premises in Lawn Primary School. In September 2017 we amalgamated with Lawn Primary as Lawn Primary and Nursery School.
The Nursery has a high adult: child ratio ensuring plenty of attention for all children in the group. Our key worker system ensures that all children are supported in developing their potential at their own pace.
Nursery fees and voucher funding are used to run the Nursery, maintain the building and to train our staff.
Please note that if you accept a place at Lawn Nursery this does NOT entitle you to priority admission to Lawn Primary School. Please check online at www.swindon.gov.uk on how to apply for a primary school place (applications are made in the September before your child is due to start school), and school catchment areas.
